For my money this is the most original and basic recipe and probably the best!
It's the one that closest to a authentic and classic ratatouille recipe and is the closest to the Disney ratatouille recipe from the movie.

Serves/Makes: 4-6
1 cup marinara (tomato) sauce
3 medium tomatoes - sliced
1 medium eggplant - sliced
1 medium zucchini - sliced
1 medium yellow squash - sliced
2 Tbsp olive (or vegetable) oil
1 tsp garlic powder
3 Tbsp fresh basil / chopped
Salt and pepper to your taste
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 Celsius or Gas Mark 5).
2. Using a mandolin (or a sharp knife), thinly slice all the vegetables - aim to make them all the same size.
4. Pour marinara sauce into a baking dish and spread it evenly.
5. Make stacks of the slices alternating the veggies.
6. Place them into the dish in a spiral, from the outer edge to the inside.
7. Add garlic powder and fresh chopped basil in olive oil and mix it .
8. Brush it on the Veggies and season it with salt and pepper.
9. Add half a cup of water.
10. Cover finished dish with foil and bake for 40-45 minutes covered, then remove the foil for the last 15-20 minutes until the veggies are nice and soft.
